Spring 2025

PSJA SPRING NEWSLETTER

In order to save money on printing, glossy paper and postage, we are taking advantage of the assessment mailing to send out the spring newsletter.

Annual Potluck

Mark your calendars! The annual potluck is Sunday, June 29 starting at 6:00 p.m. at the PSJA Pavilion. Brats will be grilled. Please bring a dish to pass and your own beverages.

Fall PSJA Newsletters will ONLY be emailed or texted to members

There will be printed copies at the Stables Campground and PSJA Pavilion. PLEASE send your email address and/or cell phone number to Krys Lyle, PSJA Clerk at psja.clerk@gmail.com. These cost saving measures will allow for more improvements to PSJA common areas. Please share your ideas for cost sharing ideas by contacting a board member.

Online Portal

Your PSJA Board continues to work towards an online payment portal which will generate substantial savings while improving efficiency and your experience. In this effort, we request you provide us your preferred email address so that we can keep you informed regarding events and updates. Send your email address to Krys Lyle at psja.clerk@gmail.com. We hope you find these improvements helpful and appreciate your support as we enhance communication with members.

New Web Address!

Thanks to board member David Clark, PSJA can be found at https://psja.org. This new address will give us better visibility. Additionally, future official communications will be sent from this new domain. This also fits nicely with our parallel efforts to give members the option to pay annual dues online. The old web address will continue to work for another year, but it will be retired in 2026. Please set https://psja.org as a bookmark for your use. The plan is to bring more frequent and useful information to you via this new web site.

New Font Lake Boat Storage Area

PSJA is trying out a new amenity just for PSJA members only. A boat storage area will be available for summer storage of personal non-motorized water craft such as canoes and kayaks. PSJA owns the lot and since boats can’t be stored on the shoreline, it allows easy access to Font Lake.

The site will be at the corner of Donegal Bay Road and Font Lake Road.

To store a boat there, you’d manually pull your boat(s) into the wooded area. No trailers can be left there. There will not be a driveway for cars. Stickers will be available for PSJA property owners to affix to their watercraft. Contact Beth Croswhite for a sticker(s).

All watercraft MUST be removed by October 31st each year. No exceptions. Any boats left there after October 31 or any boats left there without a PSJA sticker will be donated to the Beaver Island Treasures resale shop. If boats are left after October 31 or if people put boats on private property, the boat storage area experiment will be ended. Thanks to Ben Mach, PSJA board member for spearheading this project.

PSJA Covenant

A subcommittee of the board will be working on updating the PSJA covenant. This will be a long process and will require a vote of the membership before enacting a new covenant. Your volunteer board members are hard at work to modernize the workings of the association.

Pavilion Garden

Once again this spring, Heidi Vigil, Beaver Island’s talented community gardener, will be working to enhance the garden with additional perennials and some annuals. The goal is to move to mostly perennials with some annuals for sparks of color. As perennials take time to fill in, annuals will be important for another year or so. We hope you are enjoying the garden. If so, please thank a board member and, of course, Heidi!

Baroque at the Pavilion!

Baroque on Beaver will be performing a pop up concert around the fish garden at the Donegal Bay Pavilion on August 1, 2025 from 4-5 pm! Bring your chair and enjoy the delightful music and the amazing view!
